DAVIDE

Davide,

with his simplicity,

identified himself with an oak tree:

he had deep values

like the roots of this tree,

and this gave him

much strength and wisdom.

We sold more than 3750 tickets, 500 of which just before the start, while the others were sold on three weekends at the main malls and shops and at primari and secondary schools and to many many friends.

The sum collected was 13.500 euros, 12.000 from the tickets and 1500 from sponsors and donations.

900 people completed the path either the 5 or the 7 miles on the hills (see the gps altimetry) and many of them appreciated the “pasta al pomodoro” cooked by the volunteers (in total 20 kg of “penne” were eated in one hour !!!).

Many people took photographs with the Biathlon Champion Michela Ponza and with the 2 times Canoeing Olimpic champion Antonio Rossi, who attended the event.

Here are the first photos took by Caterina, Davide’s schoolmate and member of COCODA (Davide’s Schoolmates Commitee)

The 2nd Walking “Through Davide’s Paths” took place on the woods of Castelmarte, Proserpio and Canzo, villages where Davide lived and attended primari school, with a great success and with 900 people attendance.

The Walking, organised by the Association “La vita è un dono” was made to remember a boy, Davide Carbone, who passed away two years ago because he was affected by propionic acidemia, a metabolic disease of which the Association is funding research.

People in Castelmarte breath a new air, due to the clear sky and the shining sun, but mostly due to the spirit of many people walking together.

It was a family atmosphere, an atmosphere of exchanged words and smiles among different people, an atmosphere that everyone breathed with happiness and joy, in a frenetic and quick world that brings to forget everything.

Everybody walked together trough the paths that Davide used often to walk breathing this fresh air.

And also the two world famous sport athletes, with their simplicity and ease in meeting people, witness that you become “great” with little things, that diligence, enthusiasm and sacrifice makes you grow as an athlete, but mostly as a man.

“Life is a gift” you can’t it!”, this wrote Davide: and this was the atmosphere that everyone breathed in Castelmarte last Tuesday.
